Brighton cleaner, cleans up at UK awards ceremony

A cleaner from Brighton has been voted the country's best public toilet attendant with a national award. Pearl Short, who keeps the Western Esplanade toilets spotlessly clean, was awarded the trophy at the Loo of the Year Awards ceremony.

Brighton & Hove City Council received 32 awards for toilets in the Loo of the Year Awards, including the prize for the best local authority in England.

Brighton and Hove Council deserve great praise for giving priority to the cleanliness of their public lavatories.

The Loo of the Year Awards are run independently and promoted by the British Toilet Association.

The Awards have a simple objective, namely, to encourage the highest possible standards in all types of 'away from home' or public toilets.

Anyone can nominate - staff, customers, visitors, managers, owners or contractors.

If you know of a public toilet in the Brighton and Hove area, that is clean and of a very high standard, why not nominate?
